I shortly want to tell you about another weekend or day trip destination. For me, it was a day trip as it is only a 2h ride by car. In the beautiful state of Rhineland Palatine (Rheinland-Pfalz) which is a famous wine-growing district located at the river Moselle in Germany, you can find Hogwarts. Honestly, it is a really beautiful area and you feel like being in a different world. Lately, I have seen a lot of pictures on Instagram of Burg Eltz and as it is so close to where I live, I wanted to go there!It is a medieval castle located in the hills above the Moselle river between Koblenz and Trier and it really looks like Harry Potter’s Hogwarts castle 😀 It is still family owned, obviously by the family Eltz and it is one of the few castles which hasn’t been destroyed. You can visit the castle from inside with a guide between April and November. The ticket costs 10 € and you won’t regret it. When it’s not open to the public you can still go and see it from the outside. I have been there twice lately and I admit it was the best time of the year to visit: autumn. The colours are just amazing.

Not far away, a 30 minute drive is Cochem. A beautiful little town with another castle called Reichsburg Cochem. We did a stroll around the beautiful historical city centre, had some food and went up to the Reichsburg castle. Also here, we did a guided tour which costs 6 € and again, do it, you won’t regret it 🙂
